ARH Announces Fields will be new Community CEO at Harlan ARH Hospital
Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH) has named Donnie Fields the new Community CEO at Harlan ARH Hospital.
The position will be a return to Harlan ARH for Fields, who previously served as interim community CEO at Harlan ARH Hospital. He will officially assume his duties at Harlan ARH on December 1.
Fields has had a lengthy career with the ARH system and most recently served as CEO of ARH Physician and Home Services for the ARH system. A 30-year veteran of ARH, Fields also has served as Community CEO at ARH hospitals in Whitesburg and Hazard in addition to his earlier stint at Harlan ARH. He began his career with ARH as an accounts supervisor at Whitesburg ARH Hospital and also served in positions as an administrative assistant and assistant administrator. Fields earned a Masters of Business Administration degree from Morehead State University in 2001.
During his time at Hazard ARH Regional Medical Center oversaw several major projects that have lead the hospital to become a regional medical and referral center, including a $47 million hospital expansion project which included the construction of a 100,000 square foot patient tower with 50 additional total patient rooms and a new 24-bed emergency department.
“I am very fortunate to be joining a top-notch healthcare team at Harlan ARH that is consistently recognized for its medical excellence,” Fields said. “I look forward to returning to the Harlan and working closely with this exemplary team of physicians and employees who are committed to providing quality and compassionate patient care to everyone who comes in contact with us.”
ARH President and CEO Joe Grossman said Fields has much to offer Harlan ARH.
“We are confident Donnie’s wealth of knowledge and management experience combined with his commitment to our patients and communities will serve us well as he leads Harlan ARH Hospital forward,” Grossman said.
