Middlesboro ARH Partners with SKCTC for Celebration of Christmas Miracles
Middlesboro ARH Hospital partnered with Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKCTC) to host a celebration of Christmas miracles on December 11 at their Middlesboro campus.
Event chairs Lauren Wilson, doctor of physical therapy with Middlesboro ARH Hospital, and Jeannie Hayes, human resource assistant at SKCTC, organized and named the celebration to honor the memory of Sheila Gibbs Miracle, who was a professor of biology at SKCTC and the mother of Lauren Wilson.
“For over five years, my mother organized holiday celebrations for local children at the Middlesboro campus,” shared Wilson. “After her sudden death, these celebrations stopped. This year I felt compelled to continue the tradition. There’s nothing like bringing joy to the faces of so many children, especially at Christmas.”
Around100 children from Middlesboro Elementary, St. Julian’s and H. Y. Livesay participated in the Celebration of Christmas Miracles, which included placing their hand-made ornaments on trees in the lobbies of the Troy Welch Applied Science Building and the Classroom Building, visiting with Santa Claus and Elf Kendra and hearing the classic story Rudolph the Red-Nose Reindeer. Elf Kendra gave each child a stocking, provided by Middlesboro ARH. The children also received Christmas cookies and juice along with a Christmas activity booklet from SKCTC.
