Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH) has partnered with Eastern Kentucky-based Kenny’s Kids to provide toys for Christmas that will be distributed in Eastern Kentucky.
“As an ARH employee, it means a lot to me to be able to partner with ARH to make sure kids in Knott County get to celebrate Christmas with a nice gift,” says Greg Champion, ARH Accounting Analyst and Knott County Youth Foundation Board Member. “Kenny was my dad, and this event keeps his legacy for giving alive, so it means a lot,” Champion continued.
Kenny Champion’s heart for giving and energetic personality led him to starting Kenny’s Kids during his battle with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. “He always needed to something to work towards and for and he wanted to help others when he could,” said his son Greg.
As a Child Support Investigator for the state, Kenny saw children living in tough situations and knew that not all children had a Christmas that they deserved.
“We are so happy to partner with Greg on Kenny’s Kids and to make sure kids in Eastern Kentucky have gifts on Christmas,” said Todd White, ARH Corporate Security Specialist and Disaster Relief Center Manager.
The toys, received from Good360, will be distributed to children in the area that are identified by their school’s Family Resource and Youth Service Center.
As Christmas approaches, Greg and the Knott County Youth Foundation that runs Kenny’s Kids are still in need of donations. Mainly, they need more toys, wrapping paper, tape, and scissors. Those interested in donating may contact Greg directly at 606-497-7741.
