Meet the ARH Foundation Board Member and Chair, Dr. Randy Evans
Dr. Randy Evans is a Veterinarian, Associate Dean, and faculty member at the Lincoln Memorial University College of Veterinary Medicine (LMU-CVM), as well as the Chair of the Appalachian Regional Healthcare Foundation for Healthier Communities Board. Dr. Evans and his wife Susan have a daughter, Rebekah, and she is the proud wife of Wes, who is a student at LMU-DCOM. Dr. Evan’s is also a proud pet dad—his family has three cats which includes Zoey and Fuzzy who they adopted from the Bell County Animal Shelter and Sprinkles who he says adopted their family. They also have a Cocker Spaniel named Riley. Since joining the ARH Foundation Board, Dr. Evans says that he has gained a greater understanding of the many projects that the work of the Foundation supports, as well as the meticulous oversight that the Foundation administration and board members apply to ensure that donated funds are utilized appropriately. Dr. Evan’s states, “The financial awards from the Foundation stay within our Appalachian footprint and provide neighbors an opportunity to help neighbors.”
When asked what he would share with a potential donor, Dr. Evans said, “The ARH Foundation is a trustworthy steward of all donations. The gifts are distributed to our neighbors which results in a unique and unbreakable connection between the donor and the recipient.” A proud native of Appalachia, he continued, “Growing up and living in Appalachia teaches us to love people and use money unlike in some other cultures that focus on using people and loving money.”
Dr. Evans also shared his perspective on why the ARH Foundation for Healthier Communities is important and how our mission aligns with that of the overall Appalachian Regional Healthcare System. “The Foundation’s emphasis on healthier communities is on target because whether the individual challenge for a recipient is a physical, financial, mental, emotional, or spiritual need, the supporters of the ARH Foundation enable us to assist in the resolution of that problem.”
When Dr. Evans isn’t working or assisting the ARH Foundation in its mission, he serves as a Child Ministry Worker at his local church, The Binghamtown Baptist Church. He also visits local schools to discuss LMU-CVM and proper animal care and serves as the Treasurer of the Veterinary Career Advisor Network (VetCAN), a national organization that serves veterinary students and alumni.
Future personal goals for Dr. Evans include trying to visit all the major league baseball parks, but he realizes that goal is ongoing, “They keep building new ones, so it’ll be a never-ending journey,” he said with a smile.
The ARH Foundation for Healthier Communities is proud to have Dr. Evans as our Chair and we are grateful for him and all our Board Members as they help us to continue ensuring that our mission is at the forefront of everything that we do.
