National Nurses Week is a time for us all to celebrate the incredible impact nurses have on our patients, our communities, and our own lives.
Throughout my life, nurses have been there for me in moments of both immense joy and unimaginable heartbreak.
They were the caregivers I trusted and admired as a child. They guided me during the joy of my son’s arrival and were a calming force during those stressful first years as a new mother and in every major milestone since. They were there with compassion and understanding during the illnesses and ultimate passing of both my parents. They were there during my own shocking cancer diagnosis nearly 14 years ago, helping ease my anxiety and providing comfort and exceptional care as I recuperated from surgery to remove the disease. Today, as I continue my wellness journey by focusing on getting my annual preventive screenings and leading a healthier lifestyle, nurses have been great sources of information and the champions cheering me on.
No matter at what point in my life, the expertise, dedication, and genuine care I have received from the nurses I have encountered have made a profound difference.
These are just a few snapshots from my own journey. At ARH, we are fortunate to have a team of exceptional nurses who go above and beyond in their dedication to our patients daily. Whether it is in a hospital or clinic setting or right in the patient’s home, every single day, our ARH nurses have an extraordinary impact on every life they touch and are creating experiences our patients will never forget. They are the calming presence at the bedside of a nervous patient, the advocate for those who cannot speak for themselves, the educator patiently explaining medical jargon, complex procedures, and so much more. From the ER to the ICU, from the maternity ward to the oncology floor, and everywhere in between, our nurses provide exceptional care, not just to patients but to their loved ones as well. Nurses are the backbone of our health system, the heart of healing, and the true embodiment of our mission.
This week, I encourage you to join me in expressing our heartfelt appreciation for all of those who have dedicated their lives to nursing. Take a moment to appreciate them with a simple “thank you,” a heartfelt note or share a story of how a nurse has touched your life or a loved one’s life. Let’s let them know how much we value all they bring to our healthcare facilities and the patients’ lives they touch each day. Your words of gratitude will mean the world to them.
To our amazing ARH nursing team and all the nurses out there, thank you for touching countless lives, providing comfort, and bringing unshakeable dedication to your calling. You are not just heroes but also an inspiration to us all. I want you to know that your contributions are not only recognized but also deeply valued. Your work is not just a job but a true testament to your compassion and commitment to our patients and communities.
Thank you for answering the call and choosing a profession that profoundly impacts the lives of others. We celebrate you this week and every week.
