BECKLEY, W.Va. – Beckley ARH Hospital has been awarded
a three-year term of accreditation in adult, cardiac and pediatric computed
tomography (CT) from the American College of Radiology.
Hospital CEO Todd Howell said the accreditation is important as it
helps the hospital in its efforts to provide patients with high quality care.
“We are committed to ensuring that each CT scan has the highest
level of image quality and is centered on patient safety,” he said. “I am proud
of our team and the work they do to ensure great care for our patients and the
residents of southern West Virginia.”
Lhea Mollette, director of ancillary services for Beckley ARH,
said the hospital is the only one in the region accredited in pediatric CT.
She said the accreditation signals to patients that they can
receive quality care close to home.
“Patients don’t want to and shouldn’t have to travel far from home
for their medical care,” she said. “We work hard to provide the best care
possible for our patients and this accreditation shows that.”
CT scanning — sometimes called CAT scanning — is a noninvasive
medical test that helps physicians diagnose and tailor treatments for various
medical conditions.
The ACR Gold Seal of Accreditation represents the highest level of
image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting
specific requirements based on ACR Practice
Parameters and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by
board-certified physicians and expert medical physicists.
