BECKLEY, W.Va. – Beckley ARH Hospital will host
“Breast Friends,” a lunch and learn honoring breast cancer survivors, Oct. 29
at Historic Black Knight Municipal Park.
The event, scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., will include
a buffet lunch and a Q&A session with an ARH cardiologist, oncologist,
pulmonologist, women’s health provider, general surgeon, and an imaging
professional.
Breast cancer survivor Melanie Overton, who works as an RN
and as director of the Beckley ARH Hospital Operating Room, will serve as the
guest speaker.
Lhea Mollette, director of ancillary services at Beckley
ARH, said the event is designed to both honor and encourage breast cancer
survivors.
“We want to celebrate those who have traveled the hard
journey, fought through it and survived,” she said. “And not just that, but we
also want to provide them with information to help support them in every aspect
of their health.”
In addition to lunch, guests will receive survivors’ gift
bags and will be registered for door prizes.
Mollette said she is excited for the event, which is free
for survivors and a guest.
“Events like this are important as ARH works to carry out
its mission to promote and improve the wellbeing of those in our communities,”
she said. “We just want to honor survivors and also show that there is hope.”
