Dermatologist and Mohs Surgeon Dr. Deirawan Joins Hazard ARH
August 24, 2023 – Eastern Kentucky residents now have an additional option for dermatology care. Dr. Hany Deirawan is now seeing patients at Hazard ARH Regional Medical Center.
Hany Deirawan, M.D. is one of the newest medical staff members of ARH. Dr. Deirawan, a dermatologist, mohs surgeon, and cutaneous pathologist is excited to begin practicing and living in eastern Kentucky.
Dr. Deirawan says that the nature of the work, the people and the area are what drew him to working at ARH. “In Hazard, there is a great need for dermatology and I’ve had extensive training in multiple other fields related to dermatology like pathology and surgery and I felt like I will have the greatest impact in this area. Plus I love the kind nature of people here and also, the nature outside is amazing.”
Dr. Deirawan completed a research fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital through Harvard Medical School in Immunology. He completed a surgical internship at Henry Ford Hospital and two residencies in Pathology and Dermatology at Wayne State University which included rigorous training in micrographic, facial and cutaneous plastic surgery.
Dr. Deirawan sees being a dermatologist as more than treating patients’ skin. “The best thing about dermatology is that I can help people look better so they can feel better about themselves and that has great impact on their social life and psychological health.”
