Paintsville, KY – Paintsville ARH Hospital is excited to announce the addition of Dr. Key Yan Tsoi, a highly skilled surgeon specializing in general surgery, to our esteemed medical team. Dr. Tsoi joins us from the University of Central Florida, where she completed a General Surgery Residency.
“Growing up, I always wanted to help people and liked science. I couldn’t decide between research or the clinical setting for a while, but I found out I liked talking to and connecting with patients. So, I applied to medical school and haven’t looked back since,” comments Dr. Tsoi.
Dr. Tsoi’s impressive educational background includes a Doctor of Medicine from the Morsani College of Medicine at the University of South Florida, a Master of Science in Public Health from Tulane University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Cornell University. Her diverse training and extensive research experience, which includes studies on Zika infections and the parasite that causes malaria, demonstrate her commitment to advancing medical knowledge and patient care.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Tsoi to our surgical department,” said Kathy Stumbo, Paintsville ARH Hospital CEO. “Her expertise and passion for patient-centered care align perfectly with our mission to provide exceptional, compassionate healthcare.”
Throughout her career, Dr. Tsoi has engaged in significant research, contributing to publications in reputable journals such as the Journal of Surgical Research and the American Journal of Infection Control. Her findings on clinical characteristics of patients suspected of Zika virus infections highlight her dedication to understanding and addressing complex health issues.
In addition to her clinical expertise, Dr. Tsoi has considerable experience in community health initiatives and medical education. She worked as the operations coordinator for the USF BRIDGE Clinic, successfully managing patient flow and facilitating care while also mentoring junior medical students.
Stumbo says, “The addition of Dr. Tsoi enhances our ability to provide high-quality surgical services, and we look forward to the positive impact she will have on our patient community.”
Dr. Tsoi, an avid coffee-lover and sci-fi fan, says she wanted to work at ARH because of the people. From the first interview, she was impressed with how friendly and genuine everyone was.
