HINTON, W.Va. – Area residents are invited to attend Making Health Happen, a community health screening event, Nov. 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Summers County Memorial Building in Hinton.
The event is a partnership between Summers County ARH Hospital and South Central Educational Development, Inc., in collaboration with entities including Wild Wonderful & Healthy Summers County, Summers County Huddle, UniCare and REACHH.
ARH Community Development Manager Kelly Elkins said the event, now in its second year, is important as provides an opportunity for community partners to unite in an effort to help better the community.
“It’s so important for health care agencies to work together,” she said. “We all have the same goal at the end of the day, and that is to better the lives and improve the health of the residents of the communities we serve.”
Healthcare professionals from Summers County ARH will be on hand to administer blood pressure and glucose checks, BMI testing and stroke screening.
The event will also include a variety of informational booths where visitors can learn more about topics such as Medicaid and programs for children and babies.
Elkins said she is excited about the event, which will also offer door prizes to registered attendees.
“We’re really looking forward to building on the success of last year’s event and we encourage everyone to come out and take charge of their health.”
