Michael Herald Named Associate Vice President of Pharmaceutical Services for ARH system
January 30, 2023 – Michael Herald, PharmD, BCPS, has been named Associate Vice President of Pharmaceutical Services for the Appalachian Regional Healthcare system.
The position, which was formerly called CEO of Pharmaceutical Services, has been held on an interim basis by Herald since last August.
“Mike has a deep dedication and commitment to our organization and to the communities we serve and truly believes in our mission to improve health and promote well-being of all people in Central Appalachia,” said Carrie Rudzik, Vice President of Clinical Operations. “I am excited about the next chapter of ARH pharmacy under Mike’s leadership.”
Herald previously served as the Director of Pharmacy at Hazard ARH Regional Medical Center.
He first became a part of the ARH family in 1997 as a pharmacy intern. He joined ARH full-time in 2000 as the Coordinator of Clinical Pharmacy Services at Hazard, a role in which he served until 2016. During that time, Herald was also the Pharmacy Residency Program Director.
After a short stint serving as the Assistant Dean of Experiential Education at Sullivan University, Herald re-joined ARH as the Director of Specialty Pharmacy Services before becoming Director of Pharmacy at Hazard ARH Regional Medical Center in 2020.
“ARH has a rich history of progressive pharmacy practice,” Herald said. “I’m honored to be in this role and look forward to working with a dynamic, highly trained, and dedicated staff to continue to bring innovative pharmacy care to our region.”
