CHAPLAIN VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. [Psalm 46:1]

Appalachian Regional Healthcare cordially invites you to consider becoming an ARH Chaplain. This involves much thought and prayer as well as gathering information about the particulars of ARH Chaplaincy Services. ARH will do all that we can to assist you through this process.

If you have questions or wish to have more information, please contact the Local ARH Hospital Chaplaincy Services Contact Person, the local ARH Hospital Chaplaincy Services Liaison, and/or the local ARH Chaplaincy Services Committee President. The contact information for these persons is to be found under each local ARH Hospital page on this website. You may also contact Chaplain Tim Reynolds at the locations listed below.

Ministry to persons who are hospitalized is an ancient tradition in the major faiths of the world. ARH invites you to consider becoming a part of the ministry of pastoral care in the hospital setting and to join the unique fellowship of religious and spiritual care providers known as chaplains.

Once the background information has been processed and upon a favorable report, your references may then be contacted by Chaplaincy Services. Once all paperwork is completed you will be informed by letter or email that you are ready to be scheduled for orientation to ARH Chaplaincy Services.

This Orientation occurs at the local ARH Hospital and is done by the Director of Chaplaincy Services. The Orientation Training lasts approximately 2 hours. Successful completion of Chaplaincy Services Orientation qualifies you as an ARH Chaplain.

Your ARH Chaplaincy Services Identification badge will be made by our Human Resources Department. You then will be scheduled as an on-duty Chaplain-of-the-Week in the ensuing schedule.

As an “On Call Chaplain” you are asked to make rounds during your “ON Call Week” as your schedule permits, and per the protocols provided during the Orientation. You may also receive emergency calls or requests by patients to see a Chaplain. If you are not available to respond during these special calls, the next “ON Call” Chaplain may be able to respond.

Thank you for your interest in this exciting Ministry Opportunity as we seek to encourage those that are dealing with health challenges and loss.

Please let me know if you have any questions by calling 606-487-7781.
